Breastfeeding isn’t always easy and the right advice at the right time can make all the difference. Despite being a trained nurse, with years of experience helping new parents care for their babies, I needed help to breastfeed all three of my children.
In 2017, when my youngest child was three-months old, I discovered Mother4Mother breastfeeding support groups, and trained to become a breastfeeding peer supporter.
At that time, there was no network for breastfeeding mothers in the east of the city, so I started this Lyttelton support group. Today, mothers come from Sumner, Redcliffs, Cashmere and all around Lyttelton Harbour to support each other to successfully breastfeed.
All parents are welcome, and we love seeing new faces.
“Andrea is so generous with her time, knowledge and compassion. She has so much experience from her time working as a nurse and her years of breastfeeding support. Through the breastfeeding support group, she gives such care and love.”
